ShadeVision System

X-Rite, Incorporated manufactures and markets the world's most complete line of instrumentation for measuring and managing color in a wide variety of color-critical applications.  The dental industry has historically relied on visual assessment to determine shade for a restoration.  Unfortunately, human vision is influenced by a range of factors, including uncontrolled lighting conditions and eye fatigue.  Because of these factors, present shade matching techniques can be inaccurate and inconsistent.  Dentists, laboratories and patients are not always satisfied with restorations because they inadequately match surrounding teeth.

With the ShadeVision System dentists and laboratories can achieve an accurate shade match.  This system has been engineered to minimize the errors that result from the subjectivity of the human eye and improve communication between the dentist and the laboratory.

ShadeVision, using colorimetric data, provides consistent and accurate shade measurement technology.  This hand-held device uses precision optical measurement technologies that respond to light in a manner similar to that of the human eye.  The shade-matching instrument captures the hue, value and chroma of the tooth being measured.  Once this information is uploaded into the computer, the software assigns shade values based on the most popular dental shade guides.
