Laser Assisted Periodontal Treatment (LAPT)
The Laser Assisted Periodontal Treatment Procedure (LAPT) is the latest technology used by your dentist for safe and effective gum tissue restoration and periodontal tissue therapy. In 2004, PerioLase received FDA approval, becoming the only approved dental laser on the market.
Differing greatly from traditional periodontal surgery, the laser creates a sterile and stable environment where bone and tissue are able to grow back together. If you have periodontitis, you know that your gums (or connective tissue) pull away from the tooth, creating pockets. The pockets become deeper as the disease progresses, causing bone loss.
Traditional perio-therapy involves your doctor scraping out the inside of the pockets, trying to avoid bone loss since the infected bone will no longer grow back. Using the laser, your dentist is able to create an environment where your body can regenerate itself. Your gums will reattach to the tooth; in fact, it is proven that the laser is the only to have a 100% success rate in tissue reconstruction.
Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)
Platelet Rich Fibrin is a substance Dr. Doctor can use to dramatically speed up healing and reduce post-treatment pain after a surgical procedure. He simply puts a small amount of a patient’s blood into a centrifuge, and this causes a substance rich with collagen and other helpful proteins to be separated from the plasma. When applied to a treatment site, PRF encourages the growth of new healthy tissue so a patient is able to recover in record time. He frequently uses it after placing dental implants or performing surgery on the gums to increase patient comfort.
Arestin is a topical antibiotic for gum disease that treats the bacteria that cause periodontal disease in the first place. Along with scaling and root planing treatment, Arestin can assist in preventing your periodontal disease from getting worse and allow you to have a healthy mouth for years to come.
Arestin is a powder composed of hundreds of thousands of tiny microspheres that release antibiotics over time. After a deep periodontal cleaning, scaling, and root planing, your periodontist will add Arestin to the pocket between your gum and tooth. Completely painless, the Arestin powder will dissolve on its own but will continue working long after your visit is over.
We can capture close-up, high-resolution images of the teeth and gums using our intraoral camera, which is no bigger than a pen. Then, we can display the images on a large chairside monitor, helping our team spot any potential problem in the mouth, especially in those areas that are hidden from the naked eye. This tool will also make it much easier for you to understand your dental health and needs because you’ll be able to see your smile from the same perspective as your dentist for once!
Using the most advanced dental technology possible is just as important as staying up-to-date on the latest treatment techniques. Because our practice is dedicated to providing you with the safest and most convenient treatment options available, we utilize advanced digital X-ray technology in our office.
Digital X-rays provide several advanced imaging options designed to save time, provide clearer dental photos, and expose patients to less radiation than traditional X-ray technology.
Our practice is focused on making your dental experience as comfortable as possible. At your next appointment, we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have about our digital X-ray technology.
No more goop, gagging, or discomfort. Using the latest in digital technology, your dentist can take a highly accurate digital impression of your teeth. The new technology ensures a more accurate impression from the start, resulting in improved treatment and a more comfortable patient experience. Digital impressions give you the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, improving communication during the consultation and treatment process.
Our digital impression scanner captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology. The scanner is a compact, hand-held wand. Once your dentist begins the scanning process, it can be stopped and started as many times as necessary.
Your mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser, and in as little as two to three minutes, renders a digitally perfect, 3D impression of your teeth and soft tissue structures. Through digital software, you'll then be able to follow the progress of the scans including a three-dimensional model of your teeth on our computer screen. Digital impressions can be used for any restorative treatment including crowns, veneers, inlays/onlays, bridges, implants, and orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign®.
